Finally, not only is the weather on our side, but Al and I got all packed up last night so we are up and out and riding by 815 AM. Not BLINDINGLY fast but better thanwe have been doing.
The towns along this stretch of “The Lonliest Road” are small, spaced 50-80 miles apart, and slowly growing larger the further east we go. Austin, pop. 370, is a slow steady climb through two passes, 6300 and 6700 ft high, then a steep downhill lasting 6-8 miles, then a killer climb the last 4 miles into town. Steep and slow like the town will never come.
Finally we arrived and scoured the two mini-marts for what dinner was available. Then we made camp at the Austin RV park/Baptist Church. Turned out to be a nice combo.
The showers felt great after two days in Middlegate without.

hooray, another blog post! Hope you guys are doing well tonight!
Enjoying your blog. Thanks for posting it.
Hey! Just checking in on Alex. How is he feeling? On the 21st your tweet (?) said – “up and riding, but Al not feeling well”.
